Then God said, “Let us make man in our image, after our likeness. And let them have dominion over the fish of the sea and over the birds of the heavens and over the livestock and over all the earth and over every creeping thing that creeps on the earth.” So God created man in his own image, in the image of God he created him; male and female he created them. – Genesis 1:26-27
As individuals, we should ask ourselves 4 important questions? Who, what, where and why we are?
Who we are?
We are the image of God. God was very careful to show us he is not a physical image but a spiritual entity. God commands us not to make any physical image of him. God wants to reside on our hearts not as a physical entity.
What we are?
We are a supernatural spirit/soul that lives in a natural physical body. God has given us all temporary physical bodies in all shapes, sizes and conditions. Our spirits must complete Gods purpose for us with these limitations. Jesus was subjected to same limitations on earth even though he was God.
Where we are?
We live in a natural world, with natural scientific limitations surrounded by a supernatural world. We can only operate in the natural but we do have supernatural forces that do not control us but can assist how things progress here on earth.
Why are we?
We are here to make a choice. God created spiritual beings – angels and all lived in harmony until Satan revolted and was cast out of heaven with 1/3 of the angels. Satan chose not to do things God’s way but his own way. Since this time, God now makes spiritual beings not as angels but as spirits here on earth. Our existence is to first accept and acknowledge God as our Lord, second to honor and worship God for all our lives.
God made all of us. God made the rich, God made the poor. Who are we to criticize God for his plans? God knows our situations. God is watching over all of our lives daily. God provides our daily needs. (our basic survival needs, not always our desires)
Find Gods’ purpose for you in life, not your purpose. So many of us spend years chasing dreams that turn out to only be personal desires and not of God. Once we reach this personal dream depression sets in because we are not on Gods’ path. Start today to seek the path God has for you.
God does protect his own. If you are on Gods’ path, God will protect you. Battles will still come your way but you will be on Gods’ side. When you are aligned with God, the devil can attack but cannot win. The battle has already been won! Jesus defeated Satan and has full control on earth and in heaven.
To hold up against attacks, you must be on solid ground. This means you must know God. You must know his ways. After Jesus started his ministry, he went into the desert for 40 days fasting. When he came out of the desert, he was attacked by Satan to try to get Jesus on Satan’s’ side. Jesus fought off Satan by holding firm to Gods’ word. This forced Satan to leave. Scriptures say:
Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you. – James 4:7
As an individual, you must submit yourself to God and follow him. This will put you on firm ground to withstand any attacks. Those who do not know God and his word will be knocked off course following false doctrines and ideas. The bible tells us that for lack of knowledge we will perish.
My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge. – Hosea 4:6
Learn to stand firm on Gods’ word and you will be able to overcome all obstacles in life.
